Alessandro Liquori

Dr. Alessandro Liquori is a postdoctoral researcher in the Hematology and Hemotherapy Research Group at the Health Research Institute Hospital La Fe (IIS La Fe) of Valencia since September 2016. He is recipient of a fellowship from the “Fundación Española de Hematología y Hemoterapia” granted for the project titled “Aberrant splicing in myeloid neoplasms: an integrative strategy for the intepretation, functional validation and therapeutical modulation of genetic variants”.

Dr. Liquori graduated in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the University of Bari (Italy) in 2009. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bari (Italy) in 2012 after completing his final project at the Laboratory of Rare Diseases EA7402 in Montpellier (France). Dr. Liquori got his PhD in Biological and Health Sciences in December 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Anne-Françoise Roux in the group of sensorineural diseases at the Laboratory of Rare Diseases EA7402, in Montpellier (France).

Dr. Liquori has focused his scientific career on the study of “atypical” genetic mutations. He studies the role that chromosomal alterations and mutations in non-coding regions of the genome have in the development of myeloid neoplasms, specifically Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He has a wide experience in the study of deep intronic mutations, object of his Doctoral Thesis.
